I've been getting back in the groove of art again lately. Going back and recoloring those old pieces and actually being really happy about how they turned out has kind of inspired me. I'd really like to make another run at doing more professional work. I don't mean once a year working on card art for a BOTCON toy. I really want to get involved on something...else, something special. I've finally accepted that I'm a better colorist than penciler. I've also faced the fact my inking sucks. But coloring, I seem to have found a niche there. But then I look at some of the guys on here and I'm just blown away by what they do. They use techniques I have no idea even how to ask how they were done.  Over the years I've lost some of the lingo and being mostly self taught, maybe never had some of it.  I'm just bored with nothing but IT work. I wanted to be working full time in comics by now. Maybe I just don't have that much talent after all.

Been a while..

2 min read
So, I haven't updated my DA in a while. Been busy with life and things. A conversation with my good friend Jake Isenberg prompted me to actually upload a few pages from the GI Joe book I mentioned last time I did this.

A lot has changed since I worked on that book. I left the graphics/newspaper business and went into IT but not before I had an article published nationally by the Associated Press. (Published artist and writer in one year!)

My grandmother, June Graham, passed away only a few months after that Joe book saw wide release. Thankfully she got to see it in print. She bought me my first comic book almost 25 years before that book was released. Only fitting she see my first major comic.

My kids have grown a lot, I've grown a lot..I'm up to 5 knee surgeries now..and I'm getting gray hair!

I've been in an art slump the last few years, focusing on my IT career and what not..I'm hoping to break out of it and get back in the swing of things. One of my best friends swears I'm wasting my talent not doing more artwork.

I remain skeptical :P

Heh..I didn't know there was such a thing.

So, I can't say what it is, but I just finished working on my first full book as a colorist. It's not Transformers, but it is related. I ended up working with Don Figuroa  (yes, THAT Don) and Jake Isenberg and it was awesome. It was hard work and tiring, but it was awesome, none the less.Hopefully, I will be able to post some samples from it soon.
